I’m fascinated by the dynamism, strength and complexity of these works by Yuko Shimizu.
Yuko Shimizu is an award-winning Japanese illustrator based in New York City.
Her work has been seen on The Gap T-shirt, Pepsi cans, Visa billboards, NIKE, Microsoft and MTV ads, as well as on pages of The New York Times, Time, The New Yorker and Rolling Stone. She has won numerous awards world-wide including being selected by Newsweek Japan as one of the “100 Japanese People The World Respects” in 2009.

I am struck by the whimsical nature of Yuko’s art. How many of us have ever gotten or scarves and mittens tangled up or ridden our bicycles into the wind?
Oh! Scarves and mittens getting tangled up into the wind while riding a bicycle. Yuko captures that feeling so well 🙂
Elsa Mora recently posted..Yuko Shimizu.
She’s also a fun person to follow on Instagram because she sometimes shows her process/work in progress.
Omigoodness Elsa–those tulips!
Oh, yes! I adore Yoko too. I’ve seen her speak before at ICON (Illustrators Conference) and I follow her on Instagram! As Tomika wrote, I love seeing her process and work in progress on her photo-stream.
