Marian Bijlenga is a Dutch artist who studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Her work has won several prizes and is collected internationally. She is represented in the LongHouse Reserve, USA, The Museum of Art & Design, New York, USA, The Craft Museum of Finland, and the collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, CODA Museum, Apeldoorn, and Dutch Textile Museum, Tilburg, NL.

Some of the materials used in her work are sandpaper, like in the case of these pieces, as well as thread, fabric, horsehair, fish scales, parchment etc. She finds these materials to be soft, light, flexible, and open to endless development.
