Born in 1986, Cristina Garrido is an artist based in Madrid. Through the pieces featured here, Christina examines art magazines and compares the number of pages devoted to advertising to the pages with textual and image content, creating a 3D graphic that formally visualizes the tension between two interdependent and often intertwined worlds. The pages of each magazine are reconstructed into two spherical volumes using the papier maché technique. These spheres are displayed horizontally next to the spine of each magazine. The information about what pile corresponds to the number of pages devoted to advertising and what pile corresponds to the pages with textual and image content, is not revealed to the viewer.
