speaking of imgination and art…(though I don’t know what this has to do with glassblowing, I did think of you and your papercuts, and that you might find
this inspiring. It’s by Ishu Patel and the National Film Board of Canada
a little jewelike animated short
called Paradise

happy summer!
Thanks a lot Alison, for the link. The short is beautiful, I found it inspiring. As a commenter said over there: It’s all about freedom… it’s better to be plain and free than have gold feathers and live in a cage in a golden palace…

Amazing glasswork! Reminds me of the { Penland series of master crafts-
glass, bookbinding, etc. you would surely love these books. I keep borrowing them from the library–every time it’s a new discovery 🙂
Hi Alison! I have one of the Penland book series, the one about jewelry. I have to find the other ones. Maybe I will see if I can find them at the library.

I saw his work, in person, for the first time last year. It was one of those rare times when I saw something that I had never seen before. You look a each piece, each object, and your mind and eye start to play catch, you see what he’s depicting, what he’s re-imagining, and then it becomes a real thing, a new life form. It’s an image, created by amazing skill and imagination, and then it’s a real thing, a newly discovered life form. A little like when you read, you’re looking at carefully crafted words, symbols, but they form worlds, they live, they dance!
Wow Amy! You’re so lucky! I wish that I could see this work in person. Your description is beautiful as well, I loved reading it 🙂

These are so beautiful, I would LOVE to see this in person! They reminded me a bit of the Blaschka Menagerie. Have you seen that?

wow, amazing glass creations! I am a big fan of blown glass sculptures. when I went to Murano I was very impressed by the many artisans blowing glass and making one of a kind sculptures and objects. Looking online I found http://www.yourmurano.com/en, the official Murano Glass shop, where they offer authentic products with a certificate by the Italian law which is “Vetro Artistico Murano” Trademark of Origin. If you like blown glass objects check it out because online I found a lot of amazing products for different occasions.
