Bill is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. So around this time of the year he receives a great number of movies that have been nominated for the Oscars. He needs to watch them before voting. I can’t watch them all with him because they’re too many, but once in a while I take a look. The other night that’s what I did with the Cave Digger. I took a quick look and got instantly hooked. What an extraordinary story! You never see anything like it.

The documentary is about Ra Paulette, a one-of-a-kind artist who digs cathedral-like caves into the sandstone cliffs of Northern New Mexico. He does all the digging by himself, using only hand tools. Each creation takes him years to complete, and each is a masterwork. Don’t miss the trailer on the bottom of this post to see him in action.
