Today I want to share a piece written by Kim Atherfold about Misunderstandings, one of the series that I have created for my upcoming solo exhibition at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Eugene, Oregon. The exhibit will open to the public on August 29th, 2018. The official openings (I will be there), will take place on September 20th & 21st. The work will be on view through January 20th, 2019.

Societies’ bête noir!  Paper is itself a delicate material, vulnerable to sudden changes in temperature and conditions.  Similarly, the status quo of a person’s life is equally delicate; life can change irrevocably by random and sudden acts of fate.  Mora chose a book on depression to inform the individual elements which comprise the Misunderstandings series.  The Depression Cure: The 6-Step Program to Beat Depression Without Drugs.  “I intentionally wanted to use a book about depression for that piece. The different series in the exhibition are inspired by the five cognitive faculties that form the mind: consciousness, perception, thinking, judgment, and memory.“ Keep reading Kim’s piece
