Born in 1978, Toby Duncan studied Fine Art at Norwich School of Art, and Kingston University, UK. The rich surfaces in his ceramics are achieved by firing the pieces several times. They and are often cut, sand-blasted, reworked and embedded or enveloped in fresh, raw clay. Delicate hand painted gold or platinum lustre is used alongside gritty, textured glazes and metal or mineral additions.
