Born in 1941, Simone Pheulpin is a French textile sculptor who lives and works in the Vosges. Her unique technique consists of the careful and repetitive folding of unbleached, rough cotton bands. Pins hidden in the heart of each work allow the holding of the whole, thus unfolds a universe that appears sometimes mineral, sometimes vegetal, a reflection of the natural world.
“My creations are the result of an instinctive expression. The supple material and layering movement lead to forms that interact with shadow and light. They are the reflection of a harmony with the natural world.”
