My Word ART in Watercolor
This is the very first word ART that I created for The Art is a Way Project. It is a watercolor that represents an imaginary world with tree houses and tiny people. The kids and I were thinking that maybe one day someone could build a playground based on this idea. Do you imagine how much fun that would be?

Elsa, what a lovely and inspiring website. It is such a gift to be able to visit it periodically and discover new and inspiring art and artists. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for sharing all this work with your readers.
The post today is gorgeous. I was wondering, do you draw/sketch your main shapes before you apply the watercolors? Any suggestions/resources you might have in terms of watercolor technique would be most helpful. I am working on a project called “Surreal LA” with my third graders. They drew cityscapes inspired by LA, but added surreal objects (flying donuts, whales in the LA river, Simon Rodia balancing on the Watts Towers). Anyways, I am very happy with their drawings, and now the next step is the watercolors.
Thank you again for your beautiful site and positive spirit.
Thanks a lot, Evelyn! I’m so glad to hear that you enjoy Art si a Way. For learning about watercolor I recommend this place: http://www.watercolorpainting.com/watercolor-tutorials.htm It has lots of tutorials. Yes, before applying the watercolor I draw the general design with a pencil. I use light lines so they show too much when the piece is finished. I hope that this helps!

How whimsical and vivid! I could absolutely see it as art come to life, and play at a sculpture park! It would be amazing and wonderful! Love your creative cog’s!
Thank you, Dawn! I have a friend who is an architect, maybe I can ask him to take a look and see how this idea can be translated into a real playground
