Cotton Tree.

Cotton Tree.

 Cotton Tree.

There is something beautiful about all scars of whatever nature. A scar means the hurt is over, the wound is closed and healed, done with.
Harry Crews.

This is a new painting for my solo show in Puerto Rico inspired by Harry Crews’ words above.

Title: Cotton Tree

Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Size: 18″ x 18″

I already shipped half of the pieces to Puerto Rico. Carlos Garcia, who’s the owner of the gallery and also my friend, was very happy to see them. He sent me an e-mail as soon as the shipment arrived. If you can read Spanish here is the e-mail below. (Carmen is his wife):

Elsa,

    Besos,
    Rebeca

  2. Wonderful! I like your observations on scars….es la verdad. Beautiful words by Carlos!

  3. The mentioning about the scars – so true, I’ve never seen them so positively, thank you!
And I think I understand what your friend Carlos means about your work. Sometimes I see your work and it touches me, without me seeming to have the right words to describe them or as Mika has put it in the comments so right: Your work speaks volumes…

  4. Me imagino la maravillosa sensacion de estar rodeada de obras tuyas! entiendo a Carmen que se quiere quedar con todas! ;)
Es como tener una libreria de sensaciones…!

  5. Finding your blog a number of years ago was one of the best things. Still you amaze me with your stunning work, each time your bring another seed of inspiration, a thought to ponder on, your expression of love for the world at large. You truly are a special woman.

  6. Me gusta toda la obra, pero la falda con esas transparencias me han encantado!

  8. Que lindo email que te escribieron – en verdad la obra es precioso – pense que era un trabajo mas pequeno – Ojala poderlas ver en persona. Te deseo la mejor suerte en esta exhibicion! Me pregunto, como logras hacer tanto! siendo madre y esposa y poder crear tantas cosas hermosas.

  9. Felicidades Elsita.
I would find it hard too to find the words to describe the lightness yet strength of the piece above and I may keep the paintings too if they ever came through my hands! ;0)
I saw this: ‘… between the lines a dream is hiding’ http://vimeo.com/12207473 and it made me think of you. I don’t speak German but the images are so evocative, and a bit ‘fairy tale scary’ too. Enjoy!

  10. Carlos is absolutely right. There are no words for describing such beauty, detail and mindfulness. I love your work!

  11. Wonderful cotton tree shared by you with such gorgeous art. I like very much such awesome paintings. Thanks for sharing this cotton tree.
