Winter Drawings :)
Today I am so excited to share something that I made with you
These are the very last pieces that I created in 2008.
These drawings were born in a quiet night up in the mountains, in our little warm and cozy cabin surrounded of snow.
I miss drawing and painting and I am planning to do it as often as possible in this new year.
This year I will be more connected with the galleries that represent my work and I am really excited about it. I am going to have two solo shows.
There is so much within me that I need take out and translate into images.
My life has changed so much in the last three years since Diego was born. I have learned so many important lessons.
How lucky I am having two hands that let me “talk” about things that I don’t know how to say in words. The words come out only after the images have been created. And I am so lucky that you inspire me to write down words to describe the things that I create. Thank you so very much for that, you make my creative process complete because otherwise it would be a solitary experience.
I am looking forward to starting new visual dialogues with you through this place!
Have a wonderful weekend my friend and see you on Monday!
Elsita
About the drawings:
Each one measures 8.5 x 11 inches (the size of a regular office paper)
Materials used: acid-free, 100% cotton paper (ivory color) and a 2B pencil.
Each drawing has a small papercut element in it.

Good Morning and Happy New Year!
Yes, drawing does allow artists to communicate and sometimes I feel it is the only way I know how. You have done it beautifully through all your art work. If you do not mind I would like to feature your drawing with the bee for my first “Bee Spotting” post of the year on next Tuesday. It is a great piece and post to kick off the new year with. I so often have felt that a bee can symbolize an artist. They work hard and together to make things sweeter.
Many blessings for the new year.
I just adore your new drawings and incorporating the papercut element is genius. It makes them extra special. I thought of one of my other good friends Geninne when I saw that wonderful little birdie.
I am so excited about your 2 solo shows this year. It was your last show and the pictures you shared on your blog in 2007 that made me realize just what an amazing creative and unique artist you are. 2009 is going to be the best year ever!!!

Happy New Year Elsita! I just wanted to say how wonderful it was to meet you at the GOOD fair a few weeks ago. I have now become a reader of your blog and it goes without saying an admirer of your BEAUTIFUL work and spirit. I just read through your amazing and touching story that you shared as well ~ thank you for your willingness to share it here on your blog.
I look forward to seeing all that you create (and coming to your shows!) in this new year. I too am very excited about what 2009 will hold and for me, a first solo show here in LA as well.
Here’s to a beautiful year ahead and I hope I will get a chance to meet you again and visit with you!
Your drawings are exquisite Elsa – and I am looking forward to seeing what you create this year so much..
These are so delicate. I love the combination of drawing and paper cutting. Beautiful.
I am beginning to think that there is nothing creatively that you can NOT do.
Your drawings are beautiful. I especially like the hair of the girl and the feathers of the bird because each line gives texture to the whole.
I’m looking forward to all the your projects because they glow with creative love.
